“Warriors”

November 20, 2006

I am reading a great book series called “Warriors”, by Erin Hunter. The stories are about four cat clans, ThunderClan, Riverclan, WindClan, and ShadowClan. Each clan lives in a different part of the forest. One day Bluestar, the leader of ThunderClan, comes across a small house-cat and brings him into the clan. A while before this the clan medicine cat receives a prophecy from their ancient ancestors, “Fire will save the clan.” Is the house-cat the fire that will save the clan? But can even the greatest hero save the clan from treachery within ThunderClan’s own warriors?

This is a picture of the first book,Into the Wild. If you like adventure this is the series for you!

“Coral Reef Rescue” response on Kathryn Satterfield’s article

November 19, 2006

To the left is a picture of bleached coral. Available:http://www.coral.noaa.gov/glynn/pavclav1.jpg

Under the oceans surface a bright and colorful world awaits divers. Spotted and polka-dotted fish live and swim amoung beautiful coral reefs. Unfortunetly, time is running out for these places. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says 60% of the worlds reefs may die in the next 25 years. Already 27% of this amazing world has vanished. When coral reefs die it puts many other species in danger as well. What is happening to these under water cities? Irresponsible fishing and pollution are destroying much of the ocean’s coral, but that’s not all. Warmer waters are bleaching the coral. If oceans get too warm coral releases the algae it contains and is too weak to survive without it. That is the bad news, this is the good news: some coral seems to have a resiliance to bleaching. If scientists study this it may help the rest of the coral survive.

If I could travel anywhere in the world…

November 6, 2006

If I could travel anywhere in the world for free I would go to Africa. I would like to see the exotic animals there. If it was not too expensive I would go on a safari, so I could see the giraffes and cheetahs in the wild. If I went I could experience different cultures and foods (I don’t like to try new things !). Also, some African countries have beautiful scenery like rock formations, waterfalls, and rainforests. I hope maybe one day I can go to Africa!
