Today in social studies we started personal timeliness. We put these things on the timeline

                                       - birth

                                       - past events

                                       - future events

Then we put 2 pieces of paper together and drew a line across them. We started 1 inch in and put the year 1990. After 1990 we spaced the years 2 inches apart, 10 years in between the tick marks. For homework we did a planning sheet for the events on the timeline.

“A City Built of Lego Blocks” response anyonoumous

December 8, 2006

Nathan Swaya built New Orleans out of Legos to give children hope of a rebuilt city. New Orleans was mostly destroyed by hurricane Katrina in 2004. Swaya plans to unveil his masterpiece at a local library on November 17. On that day lots of schools will receive millions of Lego blocks donated by U.S kids.

This isn’t Swaya’s city, but it is built of legos!

Libya

December 5, 2006

Libya, a country in North Africa, is mostly desert and doesn’t have any rivers. What it does have is oases. Oases are places where aquifers come up and things grow. Towns also form near oases. The Libyan government built pipelines to take underground water to the coast were there isn’t much water. Besides underground aquifers Libya has oil. Muammar al-Qaddhafi,a dictator, uses the money from selling oil to import food. Libya also used to be involved in terrorism, or when violence is used to reach a goal. They were part of bombing the Pan Am Flight. Now Libya is not a terrorist country. Berbers were the first known people to live in North Africa. They settled in Libya.

Guinea Pigs

December 1, 2006

My favorite animal is a guinea pig. They are so cute and cuddley. Guinea pigs love attention and need to be taken out of their cage at LEAST twice a day. You could take them outside on a special lesh or put them in a pen.NEVER leave your pig alone outside or it will escape or be taken by birds. Guinea pigs also need a large cage that they have room to run around in. The cage should probubley be cleaned twice a week. Also, guinea pigs need fresh food every day. They need Timothy hay, dry food, and different veggies in the morning. Pigs also need something to chew on like treat sticks or edible houses.Your guinea pig will be afraid if he has nowhere to hide in or under. Find a house that is safe for them to chew on.
